Yesterday I sent a student to the nurse for a very unique reason: laughter.
One of my students came into class yesterday laughing so hard that he was crying. Something that a teacher said in another class somehow hit his funny bone. He couldn’t stop laughing, so I sent him to get a drink of water. Still crying and laughing. I told him to walk around for a while and get it out of his system. He came back a few minutes later, his face red and tears streaming down his face. He was laughing so hard that he couldn’t breathe.
I sent him to the nurse with with the special nurse’s pass. For the reason I had to check “other: laughing”. He didn’t come back for the rest of class.
Today I asked him about it, and he said that he was laughing so hard that he couldn’t breath and almost had to go to the E.R. I think that’s worth a day out of class.
On another note: I am going on a media fast for the month of October. I’ll see you guys in November.
